ASL Airlines

- Aircraft Serving Humans -

ASL Airlines is a French airline operating regular, charter but also cargo flights from Paris CDG. It started its operations in 2001 on the vestiges of the Aéropostale, the famous airline which operated for the French post from its based country to Africa and South America thanks to famous pilots such as Antoine de Saint Exupéry or Mermoz. The Aéropostale ceased its operations in 2000, and in 2001 La Poste - which is the French post - creates Europe Airpost which ceases to Air Contractors, the Irish subsidiary of ASL Airlines. Today the French airline is operating 11 Boeing 737 (-300/-400 and -700) passengers, cargo but also "Quick change" ones to many destinations in Europe, North Africa but also in Canada with Halifax. Today we invite you to embark on-board the flight FPO945 from Paris-CDG to Calvi, a little city in Corsica

PARIS CDG AIRPORT

The former Aéropostale is flying out of CDG Terminal 3, the one used for charter and other airlines such as Vueling, TUIfly or Air Transat. The check-in desks are pretty modern and are stuffed with automated terminals for self-check-ins. This terminal offers low service entertainment which is a normal thing for a low-cost one. On this July afternoon, departure is scheduled for 5.10 pm and at this time the terminal is pretty empty. Visually the boarding area is beautiful, and the latter has the bare minimum with electric outlets and a green smoking area.

CABIN REVIEW

As we penetrate the aircraft a wonderful wedding of blue and yellow, is offered to customers. Today only 74 passengers are flying from the French Capital city to Calvi.

On its Boeing 737-700, ASL Airlines is offering 147 seats with a 30’’ pitch, a comfortable space of travel for a 185cm’s person.

Unfortunately, the airline does not offer any flight entertainment, even if the wonderful French landscapes, the airline magazine and the large selection of dishes are available to the travelers. Indeed on all its regular flights, ASL Airlines is offering a menu with different meals, drinks, and desserts.

ARRIVAL AT CALVI AIRPORT

While on the solid ground, the aircraft’s leaving is by walking from the aircraft to the terminal, Calvi being a seasonal airport, the latter is pretty small.

Surrounded by mountains, the airport offers a stunning view of Corsica's landscapes.

CONCLUSION

The flight operated by ASL Airlines between Paris and Calvi on the 737 offers a pleasant and reliable travel experience. It allowed us to enjoy a spacious and well-appointed cabin, providing an environment conducive to relaxation during the 2-hour flight. Whether for personal or professional reasons, ASL offers a competitive travel option compared to its main competitors, such as Air France or Air Corsica, on this route. However, on longer flights like Halifax, ASL's lack of entertainment options and reduced legroom for a transatlantic journey can be felt.
